Helu Concert Hall (Flexible Identity System)
Helu Electro Concert Hall is a fictional concert hall in Suzhou, China. The identity of the venue derives from the basic idea of the transformation of Suzhou from the old to the modern Chinese culture. The HELU typeface is created using Suzhou embroidery techniques and sound waves and, essentially, uses sound bits as metaphor in developing a family of square symbols. In the combination of HELU logos and a family of square symbols, the typeface creates a wide possibility of logos representing the fundamentals of Suzhou’s diverse electronic music scene. Helu’s electronic DJs often use a combination of many momentary, unlike fragments of sound to generate their music, while striving minimize the audible glitches in the identity system; the backgrounds and structures of the posters also incorporate a micro grid and macro grid generated using an electronic song loaded into Garage band program.
